ABOUT THE CAMPS
Our residential Summer Camp programme has been running successfully for 21 years. This summer we will be running 12 camps, at Oundle School (Cambs), Highfields Sports Club (Nottingham), and Moulton College (Northants). The Camps are predominantly residential, with around 100 boys & girls aged 10 to 17 each week.
On Camp 1 and 6 we also run a VRQ Level 1 Coach Award course and on Camp 4 there will be a specialist goalie course in partnership with Spartan Hockey.
A typical day on camp includes – breakfast – 3 hours coaching – lunch – 2 hours coaching – 1 hour competition – rest – dinner – 1.5 hours chill out activities – rest. All coaching is on one of 3 all weather pitches at the college/school with evening activities on grass, rubber crumb or indoor. The coaching programme is based on delivery of the England Hockey Core Skills, JRPC/HiPAC assessment requirements for hockey. Delivery is tailored to meet the needs of specific groups of 12. Players are assessed on day one and allocated a group based on level and age.
The overall aim of each Camp is to provide a fun, safe learning environment where we support and challenge young players. The standard of players varies from club to national age group but is generally county/region level. The High Performance Camp is intended to be a step up and to mimic the experience a player would have at a HiPAC or NAG’s Camp with England Hockey.
DIRECTORS
The camp directors are Mike Joyce, Martin Wilkes, Nicky Milford and Hanna Wilkins. Mike and Martin also tutor the Level 1 Coaching Course on weeks 1 & 6.
