Who are we?
About Futures Hockey Camps
All our coaches and welfare staff are appropriately qualified, DBS checked and have had first aid and safeguarding training. We have developed a strong team ethos over the years and have many staff who return year on year. We employ high quality, fun, fair people with bags of enthusiasm and knowledge.
Our Head coach changes from camp to camp, however, they are all Level 3 or 4 qualified with current knowledge and generally with international playing and or coaching experience. They are supported by a team of Level 2 Lead coaches.
Our staff to student ratio is approximately 1 to 5.
We fundamentally believe that providing the best people in key roles makes for an exciting, productive and memorable camp for the students.
Coaching Groups +
Each Camp has 4 or 5 groups, depending on numbers and range of abilities. Assessments take place on Day 1 of camp and players are grouped by ability. There is of course flexibility with this and therefore some movement between groups during the week.
For each level of camp we have a constantly evolving technical and tactical skill development programme. The programme is adapted by the Head and Lead coaches to meet the needs and level of each group. As well as focusing on the core skill elements of the England Hockey Single System and in preparing students for progression through the player pathway – JDC, JRPC, HiPAC, we also incorporate the best ideas and training techniques from other systems, including the Dutch, Australian and Asian systems.
Health & Safety +
We take the health, safety and welfare of the students very seriously. Our welfare teams have all successfully completed nationally recognised Safeguarding and First Aid training. Every member of our staff is fully involved in making sure all aspects of the camps meet our high standards.
Group Leaders are responsible for pastoral care throughout the Camp, and are supported by our Welfare Team who together ensure that the needs of all the children are fully met. Our accommodation sites have clearly defined secure boundaries which are monitored by CCTV and professional security staff 24 hours per day. In addition our on site staff conduct regular checks of the accommodation and social areas of the campus.
Moulton College is a purpose leading education establishment with outstanding facilities whilst Bisham Abbey is a world-class sports development campus. At Moulton, accommodation is in modern single and twin mainly en-suite bedrooms which are housed in secure key and code blocks in the centre of the main campus. Bisham boasts accommodation in modern, ensuite twin hotel-style bedrooms. Catering is provided by the fully equipped on-site restaurants which provides a choice of menus prepared to a high standard and to suit all tastes. Any individual dietary requirements can be easily catered for.
Both sites boast some of the best sports facilities in England. Moulton has four artificial turf pitches (sand, 3G and water), a flood lit rugby pitch, a full sized indoor hockey arena and a wide range of other sports pitches, studios, gyms and recreational facilities. A 25m Swimming Pool and Sports Therapy unit has recently been constructed and is now in use.
